The Symptoms
Anxiety and its Four Levels
Anxiety can be described as a psychological and physiological state. When it comes to anxiety attack, there are certain levels that have very distinguishing anxiety attack symptoms that set it apart from each other. To be more specific, Anxiety is divided into four levels- Mild, Moderate, Severe, and Panic; and that is according to Hildegard Peplau.
The mild level is somewhat a welcome relief. The symptoms of anxiety attack that can be appreciated in the mild level include increased alert & problem solving. You can also experience a widening of the perceptual field; just like the one with the fight-flight response. The mild level is actually a good thing if you think about it, and almost everyone undergoes this level once in awhile.

The moderate level can now experience a narrowed perceptual field. Anxiety attack symptoms may even include some levels of alertness & the person experiences selective inattention-wherein the person's focus is more on the problem at hand or immediate concerns first.
When it comes to the severe level of anxiety, the person experiences a great reduction in the perceptual field. A difficulty in problem solving & a decrease in the ability to organize ones thoughts are probably the most pressing anxiety attack symptom on this level.
The panic level
Lastly, we have the panic level. Literally, the person is already in the panic mode, wherein the ability to do problem solving is totally absent. Symptoms of anxiety attack in this level may include absence of logical thinking, decision making, and communication may be unintelligible.
In all levels, physiologic anxiety attack symptoms may include heart palpitations, muscle weakness & tension, dyspnea, feelings of fatigue, bowel hyperactivity, & headaches. All these symptoms are related to the body's preparation to deal with a threat- which for anxiety is unknown; better known as the body's fight or flight response.
Treatment
There are several treatments for panic disorder that don't require medication.
